The Ministry of Interior concluded the events of the regional training workshop to build capacity of investigators in law enforcement against human trafficking. The workshop that was organized by the Human Rights Department of the Ministry in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime lasted for three days in the Holiday Inn, Abu Dhabi.
The closing ceremony was attended by Colonel Khamis Al Kaabi, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Action against Human Trafficking in of the Ministry of Interior, judge Hatem Ali, the representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for the GCC countries, Maryam Al-Malki, Director General of the Qatari Foundation for the Fight against Human Trafficking, Colonel Mohamed Ali Al Shehhi, Head of Local Coordination in the Human Rights Department, as well as a number of the Ministry of Interior officers from various police headquarters and representatives of entities involved in combating Human trafficking in the UAE.
In his speech at the workshop, Colonel Al Kaabi expressed his hope in achieving the objectives of the workshop and confidence to reach the goals by raising the capacity of investigators in human trafficking in accordance with international conventions and national laws, as well as unifying and coordinating the efforts and strengthening cooperation between veterans in the field of investigations to combat human trafficking
Concluding the event, Colonel Khamis Al Kaabi, accompanied by judge Hatem honored lecturers who participated in the workshop. Moreover tributes have been paid to Maryam Al-Malki, Director General of the Qatari Foundation for the Fight against Human Trafficking, Khaled Hussein Fakhro and Prosecutor at the Ministry of Justice, and certificates were distributed to the participants in the workshop.
The regional training workshop for building the capacity of law enforcement investigators to combat human trafficking discussed during the third day a number of issues, where David Newton and Andrew Desmond lectured on risk assessment in investigations related to human trafficking, and using specialized techniques in such investigations, as well as lectures highlighted the investigation methods in cases of human trafficking, and reviewed practical issues to investigate crimes o human f trafficking
