The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Civil Defense Department in Al Ain, celebrated the launch of the World Civil Defense Day celebrations at the city of Al Ain, in cooperation with Al Ain Municipality, the City Center Sector. The activities of the event will be carried out in the Park of Green Mabraza area.
In his address on the occasion, Lt. Colonel Rashid Hamar Ain Al Darmaki, Director of the Civil Defense Department of Al Ain underscored the keenness of the Police Leadership to spread information and educate people on the safety and prevention requirements, as well circulating such information across all society segments, to enhance precautionary awareness.
Furthermore, he stressed the importance of strengthening partnerships by encouraging and establishing volunteer teams and training them on the basics of firefighting, rescue, and first aid missions in order for them to become an assisting arm to civil defense forces. He also pointed out that the civil defense forces have proven to be highly efficient, thanks to the cooperation and appreciation of all entities, institutions and individuals to the Civil Defense role; and as a result of the citizens and residents’ awareness. This success is also due to the efforts aiming to modernize and develop the Civil Defense structure and use of modern techniques and cutting-edge equipment.
Lt. Colonel Al Darmaki stressed the importance of implementing public safety instructions by benefitting of the educational programs, in order to enhance members of the community awareness of ways of prevention and safety.
Concluding, he extended his thanks and appreciation to all sponsoring institutions and all those who contributed efforts to ensure the success of these events.
The ceremony included a music show and a demonstration performed by sniffer dogs trained to detect the Red palm weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus).
The Civil Defense personnel made a live p mockup drill involving a car that took fire due to an electrical wiring error, in the projector light. The drill showcased the readiness of the Civil Defense members to face such incidents.
Lt. Colonel Rashid Al Darmaki inaugurated the exhibition, which was held on the sidelines of the events and toured the pavilions of the participating entities, including the Al Ain Police Directorate (Public Relations); the Traffic and Patrols section of Al Ain; the Al Ain Distribution Company for, First Aid and Rescue, the Red Crescent, The Security Inspection Unit, and the Community Police. The program, which was held at Green Mabraza theatre, also included a number of shows, such as contests, as well as cultural and awareness quizzes for the public.
The ceremony was attended by Colonel Salem Al Ameri, Head of Civil Defense Centers Department; Major Nasser Mohammed Al Affari, Head of Civil Protection Department; and Major Ahmed Al Affari, Head of Operations department, as well as a number of representatives of the departments and entities of Al Ain city.
