to develop methodology on minors rehabilitation in Al Mafraq Center
At the workshop recently held at the Abu Dhabi Police Officers Club, Brig. Ahmed Nekhairah, Director of the Department, said, “ holding such a workshop reflects the responsibility of the Ministry of Interior towards caring for and rehabilitating the minors, according to a work methodology that keeps pace with the latest care approaches”.
He noted that the workshop was prepared in coordination with specialists in minors care and rehabilitation at the level of institutions and individuals, to set a four-phase appropriate methodology that help create a good minor who positively gets integrated into the society.
For his part, Lt. Ibrahim Hassan Al Marzouqi, director of the Minors Care Center in Al Mafraq, said, “Developing such a methodology will provide the minors with psychological, social and educational care, and will also help reduce the phenomenon of the minors rejoining the Center”.
He affirmed that all physical and human resources will be made available to care and rehabilitate the returnees whose percentage is not more than 2%.
The first session of the workshop, which was presented by Capt. Khalid Al Ameri, from the Strategy Department, addressed the first phase which is the reception of the minors at the Center.
Capt. Omar Al Ali presented the second phase which is providing care and rehabilitation to the minors.
The second session of the workshop tackled the third phase, which is to follow -up the minors for a period of 6 months to 3 years after they leave the Center. The fourth and the last phase, which was presented by Capt. Ahmed Al Abdouly, from the Social Support Centers Department, has focused on the reintegration of minors into the society.
The workshop was attended by Dr. Bana Yousif Bu Zabon, a psychologist, Dr. Majd Kam Al Maz, director of the International Institute for Psychological and Social Development, in addition to number of officers, psychologists, social workers from the Social Support Centers Department, Community Police and Minor Care Center in Al Mafraq.
