departments in compelling "Security Companies" to employ citizens
Colonel Ahmed Mohammad Al Hanttoobi, Director of Private Security Business Department at MoI has affirmed that the security and safety of citizens and residents is the excellence yard stick against which the effectiveness of private security work is measured. There are 35 licensed companies employing 17 thousand employees and security guards.
He has lauded the efforts of local government departments and agencies in compelling a number of private security companies to recruit nationals within their employment contracts, hoping that other organizations will adopt this trend. He said this statement during the annual meeting of the private security companies chaired bu him at the Police Officers' Club.
Al Hanttoobi has urged the Managers of the companies to submit annual plans and evaluation f the past year performance to learn about mistakes and negative aspects and turn them into positive values. The security of the country is the indicator of companies' success, regardless of their activities, number of personnel and their managements.
He has stressed the importance of training and increasing of staff efficiency on annual basis (Two days for each employee every year), through refresher courses organize by the National Security Institute. The qualifications of contracted individual for security guard jobs shall not be less than secondary school certificate. Any one who does not possess this certificate his service shall be terminated (At least next February).
He has draw attention to the project of database kept by the managements of private security companies containing the names of their staff and others whose applications have been rejected for different reasons. These databases will make recruitment and selection of personnel easier.
The meeting has successfully achieved its goals through the self-criticism, open discussions which have shown negative aspects, particularly the private security sector participations in big events witnessed by the country.
The meeting was attended by managers of private security business, their representatives, a number of security sectors representatives at ADP including Licensing, Traffic, F7, Activities Security and Special tasks Departments.
