Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, recently honored speakers and team leaders of the organizing committee of the fifth Virtual Global Taskforce VGT Conference, which was held at the Fairmont Hotel Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi.

Major General Al Nuaimi praised the honorees’ efforts; pointing out the keenness of the Ministry of Interior to achieve the UAE's vision of being one of the best countries in the world in Child Protection. This is based on the vision of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to make UAE a humanitarian hub and a center of excellence in all areas of child protection.

The dinner ceremony included a number of heritage performances, presented by the Emirates Heritage Club, as part of the efforts exerted by the various State institutions in the area of child protection. 

The ceremony was attended by Neil Gaughan, former chair of the VGT; Ian Quinn, current chair of the VGT; VGT members and a number of officers and participants in the conference.

The honoring included Neil Gaughan, former chair of the VGT, in recognition of his achievements and efforts during his tenure as chair and his membership at the Virtual Global Taskforce Board of Management. Ian Quinn, current chair of the VGT, was also honored.

Major General Nasser Al Nuaimi presented the honorees with a memorial shield, engraved with the following sentence: “We are pleased to highly praise your efforts in supporting Virtual Global Taskforce’s objectives. We also applaud your effective cooperation, which has contributed to achieve our aspirations; support our activities in Child protection in UAE; transfer knowledge; introduce the best policing practices; and enhance our international partnerships as a tool to enable protection”.

For his part, Ahmed Abdullah Al Hosani, Head of Youth activities section at the Emirates Heritage Club, said that the club’s main objective is to instill the spirit of authenticity and heritage in the soul of children, and teach them to maintain Arabic-Islamic customs and traditions that contribute to build their personality according to their original environment.

He added that the participation of the club in the fifth Virtual Global Taskforce conference is a distinguished platform to communicate with representatives of different civilizations and peoples; it is also the opportunity for the conference’s guests to get acquainted with the traditional local heritage that the club is keen to maintain; spread; and teach new generations to preserve it.

The club’s participation included a number of popular activities to acquaint participants in the fifth Virtual Global Taskforce conference, with the past life of UAE citizens. It also introduces them to the old folk crafts, as well as falconry shows, henna workshops, popular dishes, in addition to the exhibition of handcraft industries which combine between heritage, culture and arts.

A number of children also gave a “Youla” dance performance, the famous Emirati dance, on the sound of traditional heritage music. At the end of the ceremony, the club distributed public national scarves to all attendees.
