His Highness Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior rushed this afternoon to the side of a sick Emirati disabled woman, as soon as he received a letter from her, expressing her hope to meet him with her family, in order to get to know him closely.

In a caring fatherly gesture, His Highness, accompanied by his 3 children, (Sheikha Mozah, Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Khalifa), visited the young lady at an Abu Dhabi medical center, where she’s undergoing treatment for muscular dystrophy.
Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Saif bin Zayed presented a bouquet of flowers to the Emirati woman, Yousra Alhatali, who expressed her appreciation for His Highness’s visit by writing on the computer, as she is unable to speak; shedding light on her hopes and interests. His Highness also had a talk with the woman’s family, discussing her health condition, and the progress achieved as part of the treatment programs.

Emirati citizen Yousra Alhatali, 25 years old, suffers from a form of muscular dystrophy, called Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy, which affects the respiratory muscles and the lower limbs. This causes the patient to suffer from breathing and movement difficulties, which make her dependent on artificial respiration as well as the wheelchair.

The patient’s father, Yasser Alhatali expressed both himself and his family’s delight for this visit; emphasizing that this gesture is not strange to the nation’s leadership who is keen to provide care and attention to its citizens. He pointed out that UAE Sheikhs have always cared for their people’s concerns; partaking in their joys and sorrows alike.

The patient’s father added that his daughter had a special and great admiration for His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed for years, noting that she’s always following up his news and activities; she even spent the Holy Month of Ramadan praying to meet His Highness and getting to know him in person; until she got what she wished for.

In the same context, H.H Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, accompanied by his children, visited the disabled child Fatima Al Ameri, being treated at the same medical center, for a rare disease that hampers her movements.
