The Ports Security Institute at the Ports and Airports Security Police Department in Abu Dhabi Police celebrated the graduation of 4 courses on: “Detection and Security Inspection using computer-based simulation (CBT)”; “Quality Control in airports”, “Mail and Air Freight Security” and the “Airport security Basics course”. The courses, held at the Al Ain Police Offers Club, spanned over one week; with the participation of 71 members from Abu Dhabi Police and Al Ain Airport Customs along with 6 participants from the Lebanese Republic.

Colonel Khamiss Misbah Al Marar, Director of Ports and Airports Security Department in Abu Dhabi Police, attended the ceremony and indicated that these courses are part of the police leadership’s strategy to qualify its security personnel, in line with the latest developments in police and security work. They also aim to develop their practical and scientific potentials and abilities, in furtherance of the construction and development process in the UAE.

 He added: “the Institute is keen to organize such specialized courses that include scientific applications and practical exercises, with the participation of a number of sister countries. This enhances the exchange of experiences and knowledge in areas of interest for the police sector, to enhance performance and qualify staff to work in various fields.

Al Marar distributed the certificates to the graduates, in the presence of a number of officers and officials. He also congratulates them for their perseverance and interaction with the courses’ program, urging them to increase efforts and share that knowledge with their colleagues, in order to maintain the quality and excellence that Abu Dhabi Police is witnessing in all sectors.

For her part, Lieutenant Colonel Naima Salem Awad, Director of Airports Security Training Branch at the Institute, indicated that a total number of 14 participants from the Ports and Airports Security Department took part in the “Detection and Security Inspection, using computer-based simulation (CBT)” course, and were acquainted with the methods and description of detectors used at checkpoints.

She added that 18 participants, along with 7 others from the Lebanese Republic, were trained on “Quality Control in airports”. The course introduced participants to the various means that enhance work, according to the most advanced applications.

She noted that the “Mail and Air Freight Security” course focused on ways to implement security procedures, as well as testing and inspection procedures on air freight and others. She pointed out that 13 participants, including 4 from Al Ain Airport Customs, took part in the Airport Security Basics course”, which was held at the Al Ain Police Officers Club, to enhance the skills of participants in a number of fields, including communication and cooperation skills with entities operating at the airport, and the detection and inspection procedures applied on passengers and luggage.
