A total of 62 members from the Ports Security Institute in Abu Dhabi Police graduated after completing 4 specialized courses on: “Iris recognition”; “airport security basics course”, “detection and security inspection course using computer based simulation training (CBT)” and “training course for Documents Examination trainers”.

Lieutenant Colonel Naima Salim Awad, Director of the Training Branch at the Institute, stated that the 62 participants from the various police departments, who took part in the four courses, were briefed on several systems used in the service, police and security performance; to raise their efficiency in their respective disciplines, so as to ensure continuous high quality services in all police departments.

Lt. Colonel Awad pointed out to the graduation of 2 courses at the Ports Security Institute, on “detection using computer based simulation training” which spanned over one week, with the participation of 14 members from the Ports and Airports Security Department and Presidential Flight. The participants were acquainted with the methods of luggage and physical inspection; methods of detection and procedures in force at checkpoints, as well as a number of systems in this area.

She added: “The training course for Documents Examination trainers, which spanned over 3 weeks, included 23 participants from the Ports and Airports Security Department. The course aimed to develop the skills and knowledge of the participants in checking passengers’ data at airports, and means to identify forged documents”. Lt. Colonel Awad also pointed out that the Institute continues to provide the various police Departments with qualified members, scientifically and practically, by organizing several specialized courses in various fields.

The courses’ program included theoretical lectures and practical applications, in line with the latest techniques used in the field of police work, which reflects positively on the process of excellence witnessed by police and security performance.

The organization of these courses embodies the objectives of Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy, namely: attention to the human cadre, improving the level of training, and enhancing skills and capacities. These objectives also aim to maintain quality of service for customers from the various segments of society, as well as to qualify graduates and provide them with the necessary skills, which enable them to perform their duties efficiently, and in accordance with best practices.

For his part, Major Misbah Al Kaabi, Head of the Al Ain Airport Police stated that 2 courses graduated in the city of Al Ain, on: “Iris recognition course”; “airport security basics course”. The two courses that spanned over one week were attended by 25 members. Graduates from the first course were acquainted with the methods and processes of communication and cooperation with airports entities, and means to control the movements of individuals and vehicles in airports. Participants in the "Iris recognition course" received lectures and practical training on Iris recognition, and use of print collection, preservation and analysis methods.

At the end of the ceremony, certificates were distributed to the graduates in the presence of a number of officers and officials from the Institute and the Ports and Airports Security Department.
