An Arab public employee reportedly stole money from his workplace and then gave part of it to charity.
He donated AED 104,500 through purchasing coupons in favor of a charity society after he had embezzled AED 644,500 from a government body he worked for.
The Abu Dhabi Police intensified their efforts to arrest the suspect once they received a tip-off reporting an employee at a government body who had embezzled a large amount of money, Brig. Hammad Ahmed Hammadi, director of the CID said.
Al Hammadi added that the employee took advantage of a technical error in software that was supposed to register the fees collected from customers.
After investigations, the CID managed to arrest the suspect, identified as FA, 33.
