A medical conference for bone diseases and injuries, organized by the Department of Medical Services in Abu Dhabi Police, gave the name of “Bunar” to the technology that leverages ultrasound waves in diagnosing bone-related issues.
The Department of Medical Services in Abu Dhabi Police suggested this name at the Sixth Ultrasound Waves Conference which concluded in Abu Dhabi recently, and was held under sponsorship of the European League against Rheumatism. The conference was attended by bone specialists from the USA, Britain, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Serbia, India, Qatar, Bahrain and Germany.
Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of the Finance and Services in Abu Dhabi Police stressed the keenness of Abu Dhabi Police to be up-to-date with the developments in the medical fields. He also pointed out that the conference presented modern, practical and advanced applications in the field of bone diseases and injuries. He appreciated the participation of a large group of the best experts in this field which would positively impact the development of our medical services, in accordance with the best international standards.
He valued the significant support and continuous care that is given by the higher police command to all the police departments, the thing that enabled them to provide advanced services and alleviate their technical and operational performance. The command’s support also helped in providing the best ways of diagnosis and treatment, offering medical care to the police personnel, contracting with the specialized experts with excellent qualifications in all medical specializations. It also facilitated the development of staff capacities by sending them abroad to acquire the appropriate scientific expertise in various fields.
The conferees discussed the use of technology in diagnosing bone disease and injuries, and its role in treating and curing patient. They also discussed the international cooperation in experience transfer and the use of modern equipment and techniques in the diagnosis process.
Dr. Ayman Mohammad Al Fahim, the technical coordinator of the conference, said that it is the first time in the world where the name “Bunar” is given to the technology of ultrasound in diagnosing bone diseases in order to facilitate its use in treating patients, and spreading health awareness in society. He added that the conference provides training opportunities to doctors, technicians, radiologists, sports medicine specialist and natural treatment specialists on the latest diagnosis technologies, and utilizing them in the treatment of joint problems. Practical applications were done with the use the ultrasound waves’ technology.
Notably, the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by the Medical Services Department, was awarded the silver medal in the Marketing Effectiveness Award, under the World Summit Award, for its efforts in offering the finest medical services as embodied in the Conference of Ultrasound Waves.
