Emirates Dog Breeders Society announced the launch of the “Rifk” Card for obtaining a discount on animal products, entertainment , and veterinary services in collaboration with Emirates Association for Animal Welfare.

The announcement was made in a ceremony that was held in Jumeira Hotel in Abu Dhabi, organized by Abu Dhabi Police Directorate. It was attended by Colonel Jamal Jumaa Habash, Director of Security Inspection Department from the Abu Dhabi Police, Dr. Mariam Al Shanasi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment and Water, Sefik Vural, Turkish Ambassador to UAE, and representatives of companies and animal welfare associations.

Colonel Jamal Habash, the representative for both associations mentioned that the free “Rifk” card will be activated on May 1st to support all animal breeders and departments that provide animal services and to create an atmosphere that supports wildlife and animal welfare.

He assured that the card will contribute to increasing care for animals and the income of departments that provide animal services, all in collaboration with partners of the “Rifk” program. He added that a manual will be issued that will include names of departments that provide animal services, types of services, discount rates, and the original prices statement, and information that clarifies the activity of each department.

Colonel Habash encouraged animal breeders, companies and specialized departments to benefit from this service and make sure to get the “Rifk” card.

Walid Mubarak Al Shakili, Director of Animal Breeders Society and the Program Manager said: “‘Rifk’ Program is a national initiative that aims to raise the level of animal welfare culture in the society. It includes many awareness and educational activities, in addition to different activities, and educational and scientific publications that help to enhance the animal welfare concept, and establish it through encouraging society to perform volunteer work, especially students.”

He added: “The program will be executed in many phases to unify the efforts of partners and support from private and public sectors to create an environment conducive to team work to accomplish goals and give voluntary services that have a general benefit to society.” He referred to the participation and support of the Abu Dhabi Police General Directorate through its veterinary services in the “Rifk” Program, and also to the participation of General Health Department in Abu Dhabi Municipality. He added that many other departments are in the process of contracting with the program.

The Emirates Animal Breeders Society is a nonprofit society that aims to spread the culture of animal welfare providing services of general benefit and supporting voluntary work.
