Drive safely, police alert summer travelers

Awareness campaign flagged off to prevent accidents

   

The Tariff Police in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Police have initiated various steps to create safety awareness among summer travelers, those mainly traveling to their neighboring home countries by road.

  The Tariff Police have set up various checkpoints and patrols on Abu Dhabi Silas highway to ensure that all safety measures have been taken and the motorists are driving safely.

  The Police have also warned the motorists, mainly Syrians, Jordanians and Lebanese traveling home not to overload their vehicles

  The police have already issued a number of fines for the violations of traffic regulations. Authorities have set a standard height of 60cm for luggage loaded atop the vehicles. Those exceeding this limit will be heavily fined, said brigadier Mohammed butti Al Rumaithi, Director of the Tariff Police department.

  The on going campaign, which is an annual event, provides safety points where the motorists can check their vehicle for maintenance and other needs.

  The police patrol on highway will also offer rescue assistance, mobile garage, ambulance   and first aid service, as well as paramedics in case of an emergency.

  Most of the accidents occur due to tier burst, it is wise to check the tier and ensure safety measures before travel, warn the Police.

  Keep safety equipments including fire extinguisher and first aids

  Avoid over loading

  Maintain speed limits
