Abu Dhabi Civil Defense General Directorate announced the creation of a special committee to follow-up the safety measures in all projects related to buildings and facilities in Abu Dhabi Emirate.

Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Civil Defense General Directorate said that the committee has started implementing projects in the educational sectors, including schools, nurseries and in the industrial sector; noting that 8742 facilities were visited, and about one thousand workers were trained during the national campaign for the industrial facilities safety. “Safety measures were also unified in the hotels sector, and strategic partnerships were established with the Abu Dhabi Education Council; the Ministry of Social Affairs’ Child Directorate and with the Tourism and Culture Authority”, he added.

Colonel Al Nuaimi emphasized, during the workshop recently organized by the Directorate at the Sheraton Hotel in Abu Dhabi, the keenness to reach out to all local sectors in order to raise the safety level through field visits, to examine the necessary prevention requirements against fires in buildings, to educate human cadres in these sectors, and qualify them through training programs, to prepare qualified teams to confront emergency situations.

Moreover, Al Nuaimi pointed out to the Directorate’s strive to reach the Ministry of Interior’s strategic objectives in achieving sustainable security and safety; to ensure readiness and maintain the public trust, and to work with partners in local sectors of the Abu Dhabi Emirate.

The workshop tackled safety in the Emirate’s various facilities and buildings, in the presence of Lieutenant Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Facilities and Buildings Safety Committee, and the Committee members, as well as a number of officers.

The workshop was also attended by Lieutenant Hamad Al Mazimi, Director of Civil Protection Systems Branch; Lieutenant Saoud Al Hamadi, Member of Inspection Branch; Lieutenant Hamid Al Ali, Coordinator of Abu Dhabi Facilities and Buildings Safety Committee and Mike Tharab, Expert of Safety and Protection.

The workshop provided an overview about the mechanisms of selecting fire-extinguishing systems companies, means to check their validity, as well as the committee’s future projects in the health sectors.

The participants in the workshop stressed on the keenness of Abu Dhabi Civil Defense General Directorate to achieve the principle of “safety first” in all the Emirate facilities and buildings; to educate the various society segments on the basic and necessary information of the civil defense concept and its role in preventing accidents and fires.

At the end of the workshop, the participants answered the questions and inquiries of the public from various local institutions, on several issues related to safety and prevention from accidents and fires.
