One killed, major disaster averted in Abu Dhabi corniche road
A giant crane supporting a high rise building under construction in Abu Dhabi collapsed last night ,killing itsAsian operator and badly damaging the road.
Workers and other people succeed in preventing major disaster by halting the traffic ,said Lt.Col.Gaith Al Zaabi,Director of the Abu Dhabi Traffic Police.
The Civil Defence used several electric cutters to sever the massive steel structure in to pieces to remove it from the road. The road was opened for traffic in few hours and the Police is investigating the cause of the accident.
