In the eve of the 40th national day of the UAE, some members of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Directorate General, using a total of  16.731 fire extinguishers and on 940 meters area, have formed the number  ‘40’  by UAE flag colors, at the public park located near the Armed Forces Officers Club.

The idea for the project came originally from warrant officer Saeed Al Bloushi, from civil defence and Saleh Al Nuaimi, from UAE University. It took them 336 hours to complete the task with the participation of other 120 civil defence staff personnel.

The event was attended by Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Police Operations, in presence of Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, acting director general of Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Directorate General and a number of senior police officers and invitees.

Lauding the great idea, Al Raisi said it is part of Abu Dhabi emirate strategy to protect families and properties. Fire extinguishers used in forming the UAE flag will be distributed to the families after being put on show for a week, he added.

Colonel Al Nuaimi also said that President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his brothers Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates have spared no effort  on progress which had had a positive impact on the country and the lives of its citizens.

The flag will be on display for one week in tandem with a lot of activities including a show of the latest fire fighting and rescue vehicles used by civil defence, awareness programs on protection from risks of fires and accidents, contests for the public and recreational plays for kids.

Major General Al Raisi honored the Civil Defence strategic partners representing the government and private sectors.
