Civil Defense General Department in Abu Dhabi called upon travelers to secure their houses before they leave to avoid fire outbreaks, in addition to ensuring general safety requirements in their vehicles to avoid accidents while travelling.
Colonel Muhammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Civil Defense stressed the readiness of Civil Defense teams, especially in Al Gharbiyah region, to provide assistance to road travelers when needed, noting the availability of modern equipment and advanced machines related to firefighting, rescue operations and first aid.
He advised travelers to perform required maintenance, and ensure that the tires and electric wires in their vehicles are in a good condition, and to ensure possessing a fire extinguisher to be used inside the vehicle, in addition to a first aid kit, a woolen blanket to turn off fire, and a torch to be used at night if needed. He also advised to avoid driving if the driver is tired or exhausted.
He urged travelers before leaving their houses to switch off power supply, close gas cylinders and gas pipelines, close water supply, and ensure that doors and windows are closed firmly.
He commended the efforts made by civil defense in spreading awareness about careful driving among drivers and travelers through brochures, handbook, leaflets, awareness posters, courses, and lectures organized by the department to reduce accidents.
He stressed the importance of spreading awareness regarding the dangers of road accidents, especially during summers, saying that roads usually become crowded, and hence extra caution is required to avoid accidents. He also said that the adherence to directives and advices of civil defense by drivers and travelers will ensure their safety and protect their properties.
He continued: “no efforts can achieve success and positive results unless they are made through cooperation, coordination and collective efforts to reach to better results and objectives. He stressed the keenness of civil defense in Abu Dhabi to communicate and coordinate with other concerned authorities, especially with traffic police, in order to ensure the safety of travelers, and to ensure deploying civil defense patrols on roads to facilitate and ensure the safety of drivers.
