The Capital Police Directorate recently organized a medical initiative at the Al Khalidiya Police Station for its employees, including officers, individuals and customers on the occasion of the World Heart Day, in collaboration with Prime Medical Center.

The event, organized by the Media & Public Relations Department included diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure & body-mass index tests. 

The Prime Medical Center team conducted free medical tests on more than 200 individuals, and provided them with medical advice, as well as referring cases that require follow-up to the Police station’s clinic in Abu Dhabi.

Brigadier Maktoum Al Sharifi, Director of Capital Police Directorate, praised the initiative that rmbodies the Directorate’s attention to its employees’ health conditions. He also reminded the employees of the importance of exercise and fitness.

At the end of the medical day, Major Rashed Al Shamsi, on behalf of the Al Khalidiya Police Station Director, honored the Prime Medical Center’s representative, and offered him a commemorative shield, in recognition of the center’s efficient efforts.

The World Health Organization (WHO) had stated that cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and strokes, constitute the deadliest diseases in the world, causing 17.3 million deaths every year.

WHO also pointed out that the purpose of World Heart Day is to raise general awareness on the means to reduce the risk factors associated with these diseases to the lowest, such as weight control and regular physical exercise.

The World Federation of Cardiology, in collaboration with WHO, organizes programs in more than 100 countries, including medical examinations, processions, contests and training courses in order to maintain physical fitness, in addition to public discussions, art shows, scientific forums, exhibitions, musicals, festivals and sport games.
