The Ministry of the Interior has urged drivers of buses who transport pilgrims to ensure requirements of safety to avoid traffic accidents, which occur because of non-compliance with the conditions and specifications set for those buses.

Complying with these instructions will strengthen the security and safety during the transportation of pilgrims by land, said director of traffic coordination at the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier Ghaith Al Zaabi.
 
He urged bus drivers and other road users to cooperate with the awareness campaign implemented by the Security Media Department noting that compliance with the goals of the campaign will contribute to education for he pilgrims for a safer journey.
 
The Hajj contractors and bus drivers who carry pilgrims to Saudi Arabia are obliged to follow the conditions and specifications approved by the authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The buses which transport Hajj pilgrims must have all means of safety and comfort and should be well-equipped for long journeys and have wide windows on both sides and should be easy to close and open
The buses must have enough space to keep passengers’ luggage and be equipped with fire extinguishers and first aid medical equipment.

Bus drivers and Hajj contractors must comply with the instructions for the safety of pilgrims and in order to not to be subjected to legal accountability. The drivers should carry a recent certificate issued by a technician to make sure that their buses are in good condition and fit for long travel. The buses must have tools and items for their maintenance such as tyres.
