Al Madina Police gives training for carpet sellers on firefighting

 

Al Madina Comprehensive Police Station of the Capital Police Directorate organized an awareness programme on fighting fire and avoiding fire for the carpet sellers. The training included the use of different types of extinguishers. The training is part of the police preparations for the summer season when fires are more expected and the items they sell contain flammable materials.

Major Fayssal Ali Al Kaabi, Director of the Police Station said “The activity is part of the campaign which the Capital Police Directorate organizes through Al Madina Police Station in collaboration with the Department of Community Policing and the Civil Defence Department in Abu Dhabi. The programme is intended to guide and educate carpet shops owners on how to fight fires and how to deal with them by use of suitable fire extinguishers for each type and size of fire”.

“The programme has been arranged in communication with the shops owners and their staff and in coordination with the Civil Defence Department”, added Al Kaabi.

One of the civil defence representatives has presented some theoretical guiding information. Then he has staged a practical demonstration on how to use different types of fire extinguishers and best methods of use. Many of shops owners and their staff have participated in the programme.

“This participation is part of the awareness plan to educate community members on how to follow correct safety and prevention procedures and measures especially against fires with summer season approaching”, said Captain Al Hajj Mabkhoot Al Minhali, Head of Community Policing Affairs Section in Abu Dhabi.

The programme was attended by Major Salim Saleh Al Amri, Director of Operations Affairs at Al Madina Police Station, and Captain Mohammad Hassan Al Teneiji Director of Traffic Branch and Lt. Mohammad Obeid bin Rakadh, and Community Policing Officer at the Station.
