Major General Staff Obeid Al Hiri Salim Al Kutbi, Deputy Commander-in-chief of Abu Dhabi Police, attended a ceremony to honor winners of the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Awards in its second session, the commander-in-chief category. The Award, which was launched in 2012, comes in line with the higher leadership’s keenness to motivate staff in all public and private sectors, to achieve excellence and innovation. It also aims to develop a positive sense among the public; encourage them to abide by the law and public safety requirements; and strengthen cooperation between the police institution and the various segments and members of society.
The ceremony, which was held at the Criminal Evidence Department at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, was also attended by Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services; and Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director of Human Resources, Head of the Quality and Excellence team at ADP. Also attending were Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations, department directors; and a number of senior officers from Abu Dhabi Police.
In his address during the ceremony, Major General Staff Al Kutbi underscored the directives and efforts of H.H Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to develop a modern and distinguished police institution in the UAE. Moreover, he stressed that excellence has become a characteristic feature at ADP; praising the support it receives from the higher leadership. He added that this honor represents an incentive for further dedication and competition among staff.
Furthermore, Major General Staff Al Kutbi pointed out that the diverse categories in the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Awards, the “commander-in-chief category” in particular; embodies the sophisticated thought behind the award. He expressed his pride to have distinguished national cadres running the helm in Abu Dhabi Police, alongside the distinctive competencies of all staff. “Supporting the human element, among citizens and residents alike, is one of the characterizing features of our wise leadership,” he continued.
Major General staff Al Kutbi congratulated the winners and honorees, hoping that this honor becomes an incentive for others. Concluding, he wished everyone the best of luck and success.
The ceremony began with the national anthem and recitations from the Holy Quran. Attendees watched a documentary showcasing the establishment of the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Award; its system; the results it has already achieved; the efforts exerted to identify it; and its contribution to enhance the culture of individual and institutional excellence; in line with the Abu Dhabi Police’s vision to achieve a safe community in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The honorees expressed their happiness to receive the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Award, in its second session, in the commander-in-chief category. They lauded the leadership’s keenness to support the process of excellence; and to provide all resources possible to achieve excellence in its different forms and methods. They emphasized that winning the award is a national decoration on their chest, and motivates them to exert further dedication and excellence to develop all areas of police work.
