The Al Ain Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs Department organized an educational forum, coinciding with the International Day of Families. The forum, titled, “My Family, My Haven” included a number of activities and events; as well as an open dialogue session tackling topics related to family concerns and social issues of interest for the Emirati family.
A number of prominent specialists and family consultants participated in the forum, and submitted diverse and beneficial worksheets, underscoring the important role of the family in protecting children from crime.
Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba' Al Humairi, Director of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department in Al Ain emphasized the Department’s commitment to organize similar events, in line with the Ministry of Interior’s vision and values that stem from Islam to maintain family solidarity and cohesion. For this end, the MoI endeavors diligently to establish the rules of social security, with purposeful and constructive initiatives and distinguished programs to increase social and familial awareness in all areas. This would enhance the role of the family, and consolidates its position as the nucleus of society the main pillar of its stability.
Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba' Al Humairi expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Marriage Fund’s Acting Director General and all attendees for participating in the forum.
For her part, Ms. Habiba Al Hossani, Acting Director General of the Marriage Fund, gave a presentation showcasing the vision and mission of the Marriage Fund's to achieve the coveted social development goals. She also shed light on the Fund’s marriage preparation workshops, guidance programs and educational lectures, to educate new couples on the means and methods to establish a stable and efficient family.
In the same vein, Dr. Najwa Al Hosani, Assistant Dean for Students Affairs & Alumni Support, Faculty of Education at the UAE University, underscored the important relationship between the family and children and its significant impact. She highlighted the family’s growing role and responsibilities in light of the challenges that affected values, customs and traditions; and increased family problems and schisms, with the wide spread of globalization and its repercussions, and the increasing surge of satellite channels.
Moreover, Hilal Al Sawafi, family consultant at the Marriage Fund, addressed the couples’ relationship and means to resolve marital disputes through positive dialogue modern scientific methods, without affecting children and their psychological stability. Moreover, he gave an overview of his experience as a family consultant and the most common issues he is confronted with in this area.
At the end of the forum, Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba' Al Humairi honored participants. Commemorative gifts were also exchanged.
