Al Ain Police Directorate and concerned authorities conducted this morning, "Tuesday", a successful mock operation to evacuate the Al Bawadi Mall.
The drill was witnessed by Brigadier Salim Saleh Al Junaibi, Deputy Chairman of the Evaluation Committee, Ministry of Interior, Brigadier Hamad Ajlan Al Amimi, Director of Al Ain Police Directorate, Colonel Mohammed Suhail Al Rashedi, Deputy Director of the Directorate, and a number of police officers.
The drill began at nine in the morning with the police operation room having received a tip off about the "imaginary incident”. Then the warning sirens went off and the concerned authorities started evacuating and transporting members of the public to the outside assembly points.
Evacuation plan was implemented according to the set scenario. The concerned police authorities, the civil defense teams and other support agencies were informed. All the participating teams professionally dealt with the incident.
Teams of civil defense, ambulance and rescue put out the fire that erupted at a car and rescued the nine injured persons as the scenario says. The scene was immediately secured while other police units were handling other issues to make sure that the movement of the parties involved in the drill was not obstructed and that traffic was smooth on the area surrounding the center.
The public relations section of Al Ain police established a media center at the site to provide press and media delegates with information about the incident.
At 10:15 am, the incident was fully brought under control and human and materials losses were defined.
Affirming the success of the mock drill, Brigadier Salim Saleh Al Junaibi, Deputy Chairman of the Evaluation Committee, Ministry of the Interior said: it was performed according to the set plan.
He commended the logistical support and the level of coordination and cooperation among all the participating units.
Colonel Mohammed Hamad Al Badi, director of the Al Medina police station in the Al Ain, also field commander of the drill, praised the role played by the security and civil authorities participating in the drill, pointing out that each of them has performed its assigned role in the most appropriate way.
He also noted the community policing and female police units’ active role in dealing with the families of the injured, and highly appreciated the Takatuf society volunteers for their role in rescuing the injured, and the Red Crescent Society for providing humanitarian aid to the victims.
