The Al Ain Police Directorate is organizing a new initiative under the theme “Secure Your House Before Traveling” in cooperation and coordination with Civil Defense and Community Police in Al Ain.

This community initiative is in line with a security and traffic media campaign launched by the Abu Dhabi General Headquarters represented by the General Department of Police Operations, in cooperation with the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of His Highness the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior under the theme “Your Safety.”

Al Ain police stressed the importance of residents and citizens  to not employ domestic workers if these workers are not under their sponsorships, not to hire part time workers, and not to leave workers alone at home if the sponsors are traveling.

Brigadier Hamad Ajlan Al Amimi, Director of Al Ain Police Directorate, said that this initiative is in line with the vision and strategy of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters aiming to promote connection and interaction with all segments of society, and encourage them to cooperate with the proper authorities so that the police can better serve the security, stability, and progress of our nationals.

Al Amimi noted that the objective of the initiative is to spread awareness among those (UAE nationals and residents) who want to travel on vacation and stress the importance of securing their homes, which may be vulnerable to theft, fire, or damage during their absence from the house.

The director of Al Ain Police Directorate stressed that some houses are hit by burglary, which tends to be a seasonal crime and their rates are low in Al Ain. He said that since prevention is of high importance, education is a must. Notifying the public on the importance of taking precautionary measures is necessary to avoid the occurrence of such incidents. He also noted the importance of aligning every effort from the community and the police to put to an end to these seasonal crimes.

He added that police stations in Al Ain are intensifying their security monitoring of residential areas during the summer months. This includes increasing the number of patrols and community police personnel, with the aim to identify suspicious activity and suspected individuals who prowl around certain neighborhoods.

He called upon homeowners to not keep precious items at home such as money and jewelry urging individuals to deposit such items in banks so that they are not vulnerable to theft. He also cautioned individuals against employing domestic workers who are not under their sponsorship, employing part time workers, and leaving domestic help at home while taking a vacation.

Notably, the “Secure Your House” initiative includes several activities and events such as awareness lectures in foreign residents’ communities and in private and public entities. It is organized in cooperation with civil defense departments, and includes distributing awareness brochures in coordination with community police in Al Ain Police Directorate.
