The Air Wing Department of Abu Dhabi Police has implemented a total of 943 sorties during the first ten months of this year, according to Brigadier Commodore Ali Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Commander of Air Wing.
As many as 50 sorties have been flown to respond for road accidents, 126 for patients’ transportation, 46 for search and rescue and 236 for police missions and other sorties, he noted.
The strategy of Air wing department is based on adopting a clear vision to be the best department in the provision of all air services, to support all police departments in promoting security, safety and rescue according to the highest quality standards, to work as team and to keep abreast with new developments through responding promptly to all incidents effectively and efficiently, said Al Mazrouei in a press statement while the department was participating at the Dubai Airshow.
The Department is currently implementing a number of development projects and is seeking to boost its capabilities and modernize its fleet in order to upgrade its security performance and humanitarian missions which it provides for victims of accidents, the missing and the drowned people , be them inside or outside the country, he added.
As part of its strategic plan, the Department will seek to develop the potentials and skills of all staff members by providing evaluation and training for pilots in coordination with a US company, he said. A contract was also singed with an aviation consultancy company to conduct a comprehensive development process for the Air Wing Department in order to increase its preparedness to respond to the future challenges, he further added.
The Department owns state-of- the-art aircrafts equipped with medical facilities and highly trained medical staff to serve the injured people and patients until they are transported to the specialized hospitals to receive treatment, he pointed out.
It is to be noted that the Air Wing Department has eight Agusta helicopters. It is the most modern of its kind and has a technology that suit the nature of ambulance and rescue missions. It the world’s most modern navigation aircraft, and comes equipped with autopilot system, digital screens and trouble shooting systems. With maximum 15 passengers in addition to the pilot and the co-pilot, Agusta is ideal for carrying out police missions. It can also be easily shifted into an ambulance or rescue aircraft and is equipped with a reserve fuel tank to fly for longer time.
