Abu Dhabi traffic warns against the risks of mobile use while driving
ADP Traffic and patrols Department has organized a traffic awareness wing at the Arab markets Exhibition and Festival in Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), during the period from 28 April to 7 May this year. on the occasion of Arab Traffic Week, under the theme "For your safety postpone your phone call".
Major Ahmed Salim Al Niyadi, Head of Media and Public Relations Section at ADP Traffic and Patrols Department said "The exhibition includes awareness publications for individuals about the risks of using phones while driving, exceeding speed limit and use of seat belt".
He urged motorists on the occasion of Arab Traffic Week not to use their phones while driving as it reduces driver's reaction by 50% and concentration by three folds. He has also warned drivers against reading and writing SMS while driving, as this will distract their attention away from what is going on before them and double the risks of involvement in traffic accidents.
Some driver when they hear their phones ringing they start looking for them intheir pockets, gloves box or the next seat. Then the driver leaves the wheel and look on the mobile screen to know the caller. Thus he shifts his concentration from the road to the phone. All these mistakes shall be stopped immediately for the driver and his passengers' safety.
