Abu Dhabi Traffic warns against the
use of phones and reading SMS while driving
Abu Dhabi Police Directorate of Traffic and Patrols has called on motorists, within the framework of the campaign “Eid is a season of happiness…but traffic accidents are cause of sadness”, to not read and write SMS while driving their vehicles, to avoid accidents which take p-lace due to non-attention to the road.
Lt. Colonel Ahmed Al Zayoodi, Head of Severe Accidents Investigation Section at ADP Directorate of Traffic and Patrols said “Reading and replying to SMS and using mobile phones while driving lead to distraction from the road which increase the possibility of traffic accidents and the resulting deaths and severe injuries. The total number of violations of phone use registered during driving over the past eight months was 15,972.”
