Abu Dhabi Traffic ban trucks on External roads during foggy weather

 

The Department of Traffic and Patrols at ADP intensified its patrols on all external roads. Driving of trucks on emirates road was prohibited for four hours from 04:00 to 09:00 during which the fog blanketed the area as visibility was very low.

Lt. Colonel Mohammad Ahmed Al Mazroui, Head of Highways Traffic Section, Department of Traffic and Patrols at ADP, confirmed that no severe accidents took place on Abu Dhabi – Dubai Road, Abu Dhabi - Al Ain Road and Abu Dhabi Tariff Highways, on Thursday.

He urged drivers of light and heavy vehicles on highways to stop their vehicle whenever the visibility plunges during foggy weather, with utmost necessary safety measures. Motorists should keep adequate distance between their vehicles in accordance with ADP campaign under the theme “Leave space before it is too late”. During the period from 1st last December too 25th January 2010, 351 drivers were booked for not adhering to distance rule.
