Abu Dhabi Police uses the latest DNA analysis equipment
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Directorate general of Security and Ports Affairs at ADP has started using the latest world equipment for genetic analysis to analyze the DNA. The new equipment gives results in 30 minutes only. The UAE is the first ever country in the world that uses such equipment in security field. It is the first at the Middle East level as it has been stated by Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hamadi, Director of CID.
ADP with its GHQ support spare no effort to provide modern technologies that makes it worl-class police organization, which adopts science and modern technology to achieve justice, to deliver high level security services. The new genetic analyzer is the best equipment that can be used in the DNA analysis in terms of final results accuracy and duration. The equipment can handle 24 samples each one time and gives the results within 30 minutes. It is the fastest in comparison with previous equipments in use ($ samples every one time).
Lt. Colonel (Expert) Maryam Ahmed Qasim, Head of Bio-criminal Section said "Although it is easy to deal with the equipment, but the effort and experience of the forensic expert remains the yardstick of results analysis. She has affirmed the role of expert in handling samples since their recovery from the crime scene until the preparation of final report".
The DNA is existed in Living Human Cell Nucleus. It is the stuff which transfer genetic traits from parents to children in equal ratios. DNA analysis can be used in murder, adultery, rape, sodomy, suicide and affirmation of paternity cases.
The number of cases handled by the Bio-criminal Section of the CID during the first third of this year (January to April) was 170. The number of samples examined the same period was 933.
