Abu Dhabi Police integrates released inmates into the society 

 

Abu Dhabi Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has met at the Drugs Control Section, with a number of Abu Dhabi Correctional and Punitive Establishments inmates who have served their terms of imprisonment, within the framework of strengthening ties between police elements and community members in order to assist them and integrate them into the society.

Lt. Colonel Sultan Sawayeh Al Darmaki, Head of Drugs Control Section said “Reception of inmates after serving their terms of imprisonment aims to instil the concept of new life in them and to redirect them to becom effective elements in their country.

Al Darmaki has directed and advised them stressing the importance of their communication with Section to assist them in gining trust, in making their communication plan with the community, giving them special care to know their role and duties after they have served their terms of imprisonment and assisting them in solving the problems that they may face.

 In the same context the Section has organized a lectyre under the title “True Penance”, attended by the Head of Drugs Control Section, Social Workers and a number of officers. The lecture was deliverd by the Religious Preacher Hamad Al Riyami. The lecture discussed a number of themes on top of them the effect of social and psychological harms of drugs on abusers, prohibition of drugs in Sharia Law and how to repent in a true way especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

At the end of the ceremony the Section distributed gifts to the present including bags containing a CD of the Holy Quran, stories of repenting addicts, manuals about social and health harms of drugs abuse and different brochures on drugs.
