Ports Security Institute at Abu Dhabi Police celebrated, on Thursday, the conclusion of anti-chemical, biological and radioactive substances training course which was held for 5 weeks with the participation of 30 officers and personnel.

Khamis Al Marar, director of Ports and Airports Security Department, said “Abu Dhabi Police is keen on providing its staff with high level training so that they are able to confront any developments, indicating that the course, organized in collaboration with the Gernas Institute and the British Institute of combating hazardous substances is a model of professional modern training”.
 
The last five days were dedicated to the practical training to deal with a chemical leak, and it was conducted successfully, he added.
 
1st Lt. Majid Abdullah Al Shehhi, team leader of the exercise described the scenario and said, a report of hazardous substance at building was received. A team wearing preventive clothes responded quickly and immediately and rushed to the scene according to the plan. Fire and ambulance teams at Abu Dhabi Airport took part in the scenario. 
 
According to him, the most important steps is defining  hazards, then cordoning the location, and immediately taking  the injured persons to the ambulances available at the scene and  transfer them to the nearest hospital. Then the team will deal with the chemical leak.
