The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, represented by the Education Department at the Directorate General of Human Resources, took part in the International Conference on Sustainability organized by the Ministry of Environment and Water. More than 50 local and international entities participated in the conference, which was held in the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort Hotel in Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan.
Lt. Colonel Khalid Abdullah Al Khouri, Head of the Education Department, submitted a work paper on Monday regarding the role of knowledge management. The paper addressed improving scholarship policies and strategies approved in the UAE. Lt. Colonel Al Khouri praised the support and attention dedicated by the Higher Leadership to provide Emirati youth with knowledge, as the means to build a strong nation.
“The vision of Abu Dhabi Police focuses on ensuring that the Emirate's community continues to enjoy safety and stability by providing high quality policing services to those who live, work, and visit the Emirate. Furthermore, the Abu Dhabi Police endeavors to achieve a safer society, maintain stability, reduce crime, and implement justice in a way that maintains the public’s confidence,” added Lt. Colonel Al Khouri.
He noted that the Education Department aims to provide highly qualified and competent human cadre in the academic and scientific realm, as well as to deliver distinguished security, administrative, and technical disciplines. “This would contribute to turn Abu Dhabi Police into a knowledge hub, commensurate with its ambition of becoming the leading police force in the 21st century,” he added.
“One of the fundamentals of knowledge management is to create adequate social and practical work conditions for the institution’s employees. Providing this environment promotes the development and transfer of knowledge within the institution and beyond. This would help achieve the institutions’ goals, in line with the applicable policies, plans, and strategies; and share institutional outputs for the benefit of other institutions and organizations in the state,” indicated Lt. Colonel Al Khouri.
Moreover, he pointed out that the concept of knowledge management is based on providing information to all employees within the institution and external beneficiaries. The concept also emphasizes the need to leverage the available information, as well as benefit from individual expertise. “One of the key features of this concept is the optimal investment of the intellectual capital, which can be turned into a productive force that contributes to develop individual performance and enhance the institution’s efficiency.
At the end of the conference, Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan honored Lt. Colonel Al Khouri in recognition of his effective participation and his continuous support for knowledge management initiatives.
