The Abu Dhabi Police organized a workshop about the Victims Affairs Office at the Crisis and Disasters Management Department of the Central Operations General Department at the Dubai Police Officers’ Club. The workshop aimed to introduce the office, its role, its plans and strategy to the audience.
Colonel Muhamed Ali Al Dallal Vice President of the Victims Affairs Office Committee, and Major Ali Al Muhairi Director of Victims Affairs Office, and Dr. Saeed Shouqi, Consultant and Expert in forensic pathology presented the workshop’s scientific material.
Colonel Dallal commented: “Established in 2009, the Victims Affairs Office made significant progress to achieve excellence and carry out best global practices in this field. The office has joined the Interpol International Steering Group of Interpol for the Disaster Victim Identification at the end of last year making the UAE the only Middle Eastern country in this group, which only includes 12 countries.”
He added: “The workshops aim to introduce its efforts made by the office; identify available potential at entities, institutions, and patterns in the UAE; and promote mutual cooperation in related fields.”
He noted that the office is a strategic initiative in which the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters lays great emphasis. The Headquarters has employed all available efforts and potentials to achieve the vision of the police leadership in line with the general strategy of the Ministry of Interior, which is directed to elevate the level of readiness and be prepared to handle emergencies in different specialties.
He stressed the keenness of the office to re-double efforts made to provide qualitative world-class services with the cooperation of the Interpol, and provide comprehensive information during and after the events to specialized entities.
The attendees watched a documentary about the services provided by the office that fall in line with the procedures adopted by the Interpol.
Major Ali Al Muhairi spoke regarding the characteristics of the office and the different units under it. He also highlighted the main achievements of the office, and the work executed in the past two years.
Dr. Saeed Shouqi discussed the procedures and stages of identifying victims and the mechanism adopted for identification.
