The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters launched a media awareness campaign on Sunday under the title: “The Road Has its Ethics and Speed has its Track.” The campaign falls within the framework of the current preparations for the “The Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix,” which will be hosted at Yas Marina Circuit from the 1-3 November 2013.
Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, said that the media awareness campaign is conducted by the Security Media Department of the General Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. He adds that this campaign represents the modern approach of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, through the establishment of advanced concepts for police interaction with society members.
Al Menhali announced the launch of a public event within the campaign, whereby people will be able to attend the FanZone™ exhibition on the Abu Dhabi Corniche. They can watch an educational patrol display and attend an auto simulation show, which introduces visitors to safe driving methods. The Smart car will be there to educate children above the age of 10 years about road and safety rules and regulations in addition to introducing their parents to the importance of seatbelts and using child car seats in the rear seats of vehicles. The event will take place daily from 24 October to 2 November starting at 5 pm until 11 pm.
The Major General stressed on the continued commitment of the Abu Dhabi Police to communicate with other authorities, institutions and societal categories. He clarified that the campaign reveals the interest of the Abu Dhabi Police to keep pace with development, interact with audiences, invest in public events to communicate with all community members, encourage drivers to respect traffic and patrolling regulations, and spread awareness about safe driving according to road signs and rules.
