A meeting in the Abu Dhabi Police Officers Club was held to examine a study on the organization of an international conference in the United Arab Emirates about the dangers of children's games.
Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Al Shamari, Director of Child Protection Center in the Ministry of Interior highlighted the vision of the Center concerning the conference and its objectives related to child protection. The Police Authority envisions making the UAE a civilized center and a platform for excellence in child protection.
He also stressed the commitment of the Child Protection Higher Committee in the Ministry of Interior to integrate and exert efforts to protect children.
Lieutenant Al Shamari hailed the initiative of the Al Ain Municipality in the coordination and integration with concerned authorities on the proposal to organize the conference.
The meeting has included representatives of the Al Ain Municipality and the Family Development Foundation.
Obeid Al Kutobi, Director of Community Service, Northern Sector, in Al Ain confirmed the municipality’s dedication to establish an institutional framework for cooperation in order to achieve the highest level of child protection; he praised the efforts of the Ministry of Interior in this regard.
Khalid Rashed Hamdan Al Jabiri, Society Actors Coordinator, Northern Sector in Al Ain tackled the importance of a supervisory role to ensure compliance with the requirements and specifications to achieve the preventive aspect in child protection.
Maha Jouan Moubarak Al Marouhi, Director of the Child and Youth Development Directorate in the Family Development Foundation discussed the awareness methods that can be used to target different societal categories to achieve preventative measures to safeguard children.
The attendees suggested the organization of the conference over three days proposing three main focal points: the age categories, the type of games, and regulatory legislations. They also highlighted the need to discuss international best practices for the protection of children against the dangers of games.
They also suggested the coordination with the concerned authorities in the supervisory and regulatory roles to display their efforts and initiatives at the conference, and to disclose the best legislative practices including those applied globally.
The attendees recommended taking advantage of the Ministry of Interior’s experience in holding and organizing conferences, events and awareness campaigns. The awareness events against the dangers of games must be organized according to a scheduled program that will extend over months before the date of the conference.
