The Abu Dhabi Police Air Wing, represented by the Training Division, organized a course titled “Tactical Integration of Air Support for the Police” at the administrative headquarters in order to increase coordination and cooperation, and to further understand the type of support provided by the Air Wing unit. The Traffic and Patrols Directorate , Criminal Investigation Department, Security Investigation Department, Airports Department, Emergency and public safety Department, Crime Scene , and Special Tasks Department partook in the course.
The course focused on increasing the safety of police personnel on the ground and in helicopters.
The Air Wing Department is working alongside other departments for development in line with the Abu Dhabi Police 2008-2012 Strategy.
The training program, prepared by the Training Department of the Air Wing, is based on world-class best practices adopted in the USA and UK. Lessons are practically applied on the field following the training.
The training course addresses the tactical integration of air support for the police with all ground units of the Abu Dhabi Police. The main principles of police air support operations and helicopter safety, communication and interaction via TETRA devices between the airplane and the Operations and Ground Support Room are discussed. The participants confirmed the importance of the course to boost teamwork and accomplish missions.
Aside from the training course, the Air Wing Department organized a mini awareness exhibition on police mechanisms at the Traffic Institute field in Al Ain in cooperation with Emergency and Public Safety Department of the Abu Dhabi Police, and Abu Dhabi Police Traffic Institute.
Seventy-two students, boys and girls, from Etihad Private School, visited the exhibition and were introduced to police efforts in different domains. They concluded the visit with a photo captured in the Air Wing airplane, traffic patrol motorcycle, and quick intervention car.
