The Search and Rescue Aircraft of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, Air Wing Section, found three young Arab men, who went missing at sea, in an area near the capital on Friday evening.

Colonel Pilot Ibrahim Al Balushi, Chief of the Rescue and Air Emergency Department in the Air Wing Section, explained that the Central Operations Department sent a notification at 10:35 pm stating that three young men, all in their mid-twenties, rented jet skis from a hotel in Abu Dhabi City at 5:30 pm and headed for an area near the island of Al Bahrani, but they did not return.

Colonel Al Balushi added that after collecting all the information about the speculated course of the trip, the search and rescue aircraft departed, with a trained crew equipped with a thermal imaging camera to help search at night.

He pointed out that the crew followed a specific plan that is usually implemented in such situations, which focuses on surveying the area in question. After one hour of the search operation, the three missing young men were found on a small island near the island of Al Bahrani. The crew conducted a preliminary health check on them, and transported them by the aircraft to a land ambulance.

The Chief of the Rescue and Air Emergency Department reminded amateurs and those embarking on similar cruises to carry a mobile phone with them enabling them to communicate with concerned authorities in such emergency situations.

He explained that after finding the three young men, it was found that they did not have a mobile phone with them. He stressed the need to inform receptionists in hotels and other locations where jet skis are rented about the course of the trip and destinations before departing; this would aid efforts to find stranded individuals easily and quickly.
