Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, underscored the Police Leadership’s commitment  to qualify officers, academically and practically. This comes in line with its vision since 2001, to  qualify top achievers at the  Police College  for the Higher Education Program in various scientific disciplines, so as to meet the needs of Abu Dhabi Police and keep pace with the evolution of police work.

During the visit of the 23rd batch of  Diwan expert officers, Major General Al Nuaimi indicated that the program to  qualify top achievers among  the Police College,  included the 11th  to the 23rd  batch of graduates. "We have many outstanding results;  the goal of this initiative   is to achieve professional  and academic education,  and qualify  academically and scientifically  Emirati officers”, he said.

For his part, Colonel Mohammed Hamid Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Director General of Strategy and Performance at the Ministry of Interior, said that the knowledge and experience of the Diwan experts will enable them to develop strategic planning and goals for their departments. “Criteria for  selecting  Diwan officers  depended on selecting  top achievers from  the Police College; who enjoy high professional and academic levels, as well as leadership,” Al Dhaheri noted.
 
Furthermore, he indicated that meetings are convened periodically  with the “Diwan experts”,  to provide them with follow-up, support, and guidance, as well as to honor the outstanding officers in their  fields of work. He noted that the Ministry seeks to select future police leaders to be assigned  to the various police departments, so they can pave  way for further  excellence.

Moreover, Lieutenant Colonel Thani Butti Al Shamsi, Director of the Training Department at Abu Dhabi Police, Chairman of the Follow-up Committee for the Qualification Plan of Postgraduate Officers at the “Diwan Experts” Committee, highlighted the different phases of the Committee’s  plans to qualify officers in the field of higher education. The first phase includes  training within the country.  Selected officers must attend training and qualification courses and carry out research work for two years at police stations. They also will enroll in English courses to help them pursue higher education in  foreign countries renowned for their academic competence. Furthermore, the selected officers will take part in police training courses in the field of administrative and police sciences in English, in the country and abroad.

He added that the committee is coordinating with the Department of Education to get admission to a master's degree program in a foreign University;  according to the scholarship students’ major, namely;  electronic crime, money laundering, strategy, crime scene or any other police specialization .

Lieutenant Colonel Thani Butti Al Shamsi explained that a  student must  obtain his  master's degree in two years, then return to work in the relevant Department.  Moreover, a student must apply the knowledge he acquired  in his  higher studies, by selecting  a case at  his  Department,    study it and find the appropriate scientific and practical solutions . He must also  submit a useful project  in order to become eligible to carry out PhD studies.
