The Abu Dhabi Civil Defense General Directorate acquired global systems certifications for 3 standards: Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008, Environmental Management System Certification ISO 14001:2004, Occupational Health and Safety System Certification OHSAS 18001:2007.
In collaboration with a specialized team, the “Directorate” had developed its management system in order to meet international requirements and standards. All organizational units and centers in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain city and Western Region successfully passed the stage of final audit undertaken by an accredited certification body, thus becoming a pioneer in achieving the three certifications at the state level.
Lieutenant General Rashed Thani Al Matroushi, Acting Commander in Chief of Civil Defense, emphasized that acquiring these global certifications comes in line with the Civil Defense’s commitment to attain leadership and excellence, and achieve the vision of the Federal Government, in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy that encourages excellence in different aspects and fields.
Lt. General Al Matroushi added that endeavors will continue until all departments of Civil Defense in the State obtain quality certifications, and become an instrument to support the efforts to consolidate and develop procedures, and to achieve continuous improvement in all areas of civil defense.
For his part, Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director General of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi, pointed out that the standards of Quality Management System, Environmental Management System and Occupational Health and Safety System will contribute to improve the ability of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi to pursue and develop Operations Performance measurement tools, to ensure maximum customer satisfaction. He noted that the change is a result of collective efforts, where all the employees participated positively for the benefit of all and to smoothly achieve the objectives.
Colonel Al Nuaimi assured the Directorate’s keenness to train the employees; to develop and rehabilitate the administrative body in order to get certifications; pointing out that the organizational units at the Directorate General worked very hard to achieve the requirements of the Quality, Environmental Management System and Occupational Health and Safety Systems in a professional elaborate manner, which reflected positively and clearly on the various performance aspects.
Moreover, Lieutenant Colonel Issa Salem Al Qayedi, Director of Strategy and Performance Development at the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense General Directorate, explained that the interest in preserving the environment must be consistent with the government’s strategy, which aims to provide an atmosphere that combines the best in order to reach a universal level; in addition to focusing on the health and safety of all employees of the Civil Defense General Directorate.
First Lieutenant Mohammad Nasser Al-Harthy, Head of the Quality Division and Project Manager, stated that the efforts of the team members, their understanding of the importance of change, keeping pace with the Emirate’s aspirations and teamwork, were the reasons behind this unprecedented achievement.
For his part, First Lieutenant Ali Saeed Al Afari, Head of Strategic Planning Division, expressed his thanks for all Department Directors and heads of Divisions for their tireless efforts in helping the Quality team at the Directorate to accomplish this distinguished job; wishing for further leadership and excellence in the service of the beloved country.
