ADP warns against financial fraud through the internet

 

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at ADP has warned bank customers against falling victims to cyber fraud which threatens bank accounts by drawing moneys without any right.

Colonel (Dr.) Rashid Bu Rasheed, head of Organized Crime Section at ADP CID said “ The Department has received a number of complaints about false bank service forming a fraud faced by bank customers who fell victims to fraudulent “Fishing”.

He has confirmed that the cooperation of Cyber Crime branch of Organized Crime Section, has contributed to the reduction of crimes of web sites, e-mails and coordination with authorities concerned to block fake sites and to hunt cyber criminals. The team has monitored a number of false sites and has taken necessary action towards them to prevent the fall, of more victims.

He has also warned against false e-mails sent by some banks. They look real and bears all details of the customer. They state that the system of the customer bank account is down and to activate it they need your pass word and some other confidential information, such as the user name, code and completing a bank form, where they draw moneys from customers accounts.

By investigation and efforts and CID personnel these new cyber crime have been detected. Most of the criminals are of African nationalities.

Captain Omer Mohammad al Teneiji, Director of Cyber Crime Branch advises the public not to complete forms concerning financial information or to give any personal information, such ID name or pass word while talking on phone or through e-mail. Such information requires personal presence.

Bank customers are advised to check their bank statements regularly and ensure about all withdrawal operations. They should not hesitate to report any discrepancies to the bank and calls the concerned authorities to ensure accuracy of form or transaction.
