ADP participates in the 4th DNA Conference in Bahrain 

 

The 4th DNA Conference which was held in Bahrain and continued for three days recommended the setting up of an Arab Team for the DNA. Emirates DNA Team would look after organizational and administrative issues of the Team, due to its experience in this field and as the first Arab Team set up for this purpose.

Colonel Expert (Dr.) Ahmed Al Marzouqi, Head of Emirates delegation to the Conference and Leader of Emirates DNA Team, who opened the sessions of the Conference, said “The setting up of an Arab Team for DNA will support exchange of expertise between Arab countries in DNA field. It allows Arab experts to meet to support unified work in terms of standards, reporting and reviewing the efforts of each country to promote its technical capabilities in DNA area”.

The participants agreed to attend the next conference in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

“The Conference has been attended by 11 Arab countries. Morocco and Iraq attend for the first time. Emirates delegation has delivered a lecture during the Conference about the importance of setting up a DNA Database in Arab Region to form a distinguished Arab work system in the DNA area, through unification of standards and systems”, added Al Marzouqi.

Experts from USA delivered lectures on the DNA laws, legislations and global laboratories map in this regard. Lecture on how to get best results to recover the DNA, use of germs in criminal areas and a new device for analysis of the DNA results was showcased.

Colonel Al Marzouqi chaired a discussion circle comprised DNA experts from Arab countries. An expert from Iraq explained the procedures of DNA in Iraq and how dead bodies and remains of bodies are identified by the use of the DNA.

The UAE is the first Arab country which set up a DNA Team in 2008 by a Ministerial Decision. Emirates’ delegation consists of experts from ADP, Dubai Police and RAK Police.
