ADP launche awareness campaign for
school students about drugs hazards
The Drugs Control Department of ADP CID has launched recently a campaign to educate school students on the dangers of narcotic drugs under the theme “Drugs is a blight targeting us” to introduce types of drugs and their dangers on individual, family and community.
Colonel Hamad Ahmed Al Hamadi, Director of CID, said “The campaign targets youth category of secondary school students to educate them on drugs dangers and to build a fence to keep them away and not to fall victims to drugs. The campaign also will highlight the risks of their abuse and their types, which lead the youth to fall in bad behaviors against the law.
The campaign also enhances security awareness among students, and acquaints them with drugs harms to promote their sense of security. and to create an enlightened generations contributing to community development and progress so as to curb such lethal blight.
The Director of CID lauds Abu Dhabi Educational Zone in contribution to fighting of drugs as a key partner of CID to educate students on the drastic effects of narcotic drugs. The Educational Zone is the way to youth category and selection of schools for campaign activities.
Lt. Colonel Sultan al Darmaki, Head of Drugs Control Section said “the campaign consists of several activities including lectures for students and parents on the dangers of drugs, their types and their risks and distribution of manuals and publications showing the harmful effects of drugs”.
He warns students against falling victims. This blight should be resisted by all community segments, young or adults. The role of parents in keeping away drugs blight and protect their children against drugs by monitoring their behaviors, selection of their companions. Friends at this age category have huge effect on them. Ignorance of children leads them to delinquency, drugs abuse and addiction which leas to harmful end.
