The ADP Punitive Reformatory Establishments concluded its first sports season organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council for female inmates. The one-month long sports festival titled “Sports for all with no Limits” took place from April 15 – May 22 in the Al Wathba region in Abu Dhabi. The Punitive Reformatory Establishments’ team ranked first and won the gold medal, followed by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council team in second place and the Al Noumour team in third place with a Bronze medal. The closing ceremony was attended by a number of officers, non-commissioned officers and representatives of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
The ceremony kicked off with the national anthem played by the Police College band, followed by an address by Colonel Mohammed Saif Matar Al Zaabi, Director of the Punitive Reformatory Establishments at Abu Dhabi Police. Al Zaabi praised the Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s significant role in fulfilling the dream of the inmates, adding that financial prizes will be offered to the winning teams. Moreover, Al Zaabi expressed his wish to see further ideas come to life, so as to relieve some of the female inmates’ stress and alleviate the burden of the Punitive Reformatory Establishments’ staff.
“The Abu Dhabi Sports Council has sought since its inception to spread the culture of sports across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Thanks to its diligent efforts, the message has achieved the desired reach, and through this program, the Punitive Reformatory Establishments have managed successfully to deliver the message to all,” he continued.
For his part, Fadel Al Mansouri, Head of the Sports Quality Department at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, emphasized that chief among the Council’s objectives is spreading sports awareness among all community institutions and establish partnerships that support the Abu Dhabi Government’s visions. For this end, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council seeks to provide support, follow-up and supervision to ensure the success of all initiatives and sports programs that contribute to spread awareness in the community.
Moreover, Al Mansouri explained that the “Sports for all with no Limits” initiative, which was organized in collaboration with the Punitive Reformatory Establishments in Al Wathba is a new milestone to be added to the track of achievements of the Women's sports section in the Council, which dedicates outstanding initiatives and programs to all women across the Emirate.
Concluding, Al Mansouri pointed out that the program represents an incentive for further purposeful programs for female inmates at the Establishments. This stems from the Council’s firm belief in community partnership through which it seeks to achieve through such events.
The closing ceremony was attended by Colonel Saeed Al Naqbi, Head of the Al Wathba section; Major Mona Khalifa, Administrative Affairs Branch Manager and officer at the Training Institute; First Lieutenant Srrour Saeed Al Nuaimi; First Lieutenant Sabha Muflih Zouwaid; and from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Fadel Al Mansouri and Aisha Al Nuaimi.
