ADP Community Police on Foot patrols in Abu Dhabi
In response to the directives of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior to enhance the role of Community Police among the communities, the Community Police Department at ADP has started foot patrols to deal with different non-Arabic speaking communities in residential areas.
Major General Mohammad bin Al Awadhi Al Minhali, Acting Director General of Policing Operations received in his office on Sunday members of the on foot community police patrols who had already started their work in residential areas populated by European and East Asian residents. The Community Police Department has recruited officers from UK and Singapore, as they are the most experienced countries in the world in community policing.
Lt. Colonel Mubarak bin Meheiroom, Director of Community Police Department has affirmed the Police Leadership keenness to develop the services delivered to the public.
These on foot patrols communicate with non-Arabic speaking communities which it is difficult to communicate with. But with officers from their home land it is easy to communicate with them effectively, and you can easily communicate to them the goals of the community police. Thus these communities can merge with each others the thing that reflects positively in more security and stability in the community. Their presence among the Community Police members achieves exchange of experiences and the development of community police methods in their countries.
These on foot patrols communicate with community in areas which witness intense presence of foreign community members in order to gain their trust to deliver quality services to them.
The aim of on foot patrols is to deal directly with community members in all areas of their lives whether on streets, exhibitions, forums, clubs, schools etc. Thus they enhance trust and closeness between community police and community members, particularly in areas where foreign communities prevail. They receive wide response and big welcome from their compatriots.
