Two planes of Abu Dhabi Air Wing had rescued four stranded Emiratis late last Saturday near Al Hadairat Island in Abu Dhabi, off Musaffah Industrial Area Coast.
They were rushed to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital for medical checkups.
The rescued citizens were using the hired water scooters when they got stranded due to the sea ebb. They had no communications' devices with.
Brig. Pilot Ali Al Mazrouei, Director of the Department of Air Wing at Abu Dhabi Police, said the department had received a report from the operations room at 09:20pm, saying four people had been stranded. Based on the report, the thermal imaging plane took off from Al Bateen Air Base in Abu Dhabi and followed by the search and rescue aircraft with specialized night missions' search and rescue team on board at 11:00pm.
He added that the two water scooters were found first, indicating that the night vision and thermal imaging systems were used to track down the stranded. They were detected and found near Al Hadairat Island off Musaffah Industrial Area Coast. They were in good health.
Al Mazrouei called on the seafarers to report their departure and return timings to competent authorities, adding that they should carry along with them safety gadgets, GPS and communications devices to report in case of emergency.
