A lecture on the Cervical Cancer

 

The Medical Service Section in Al Ain has organized recently a lecture on the Cervical Cancer at the Police Officers Club, within the framework of awareness campaign organized by Tawam Hospital in collaboration with John Hopkins International.

1st Lt. Maryam Issa Al Rumaithi, Director of Assistant Medical Services Branch, in her speech on the occasion, has thanked Tawam Hospital management for its continuous cooperation with ADP Medical Services with a view to raise health awareness a among police personnel, within the framework of partnership between ADP GHQ and different local agencies and departments, to serve the community and to enhance its security and stability.

The lecturer, Dr. Thikra Hassan, Obstetrician, Gynecologist and Female Reproductive System Tumors Specialist at Tawam Hospital said "The cervical cancer has become one of the common diseases in our time. The deaths resulting from this disease reach 70% in developing countries, because they do not take necessary preventive measures, they do not early medical examinations or early treatment".

"Early examination and treatment facilities are available at primary health acre centers in Abu Dhabi. Female students whose ages range between 12 and 13 years are vaccinated against this disease. This disease is the second main cause of deaths after breast cancer in the UAE. 43 women die every year due to this disease in the country, according to the published health reports. The main cause of the disease is Human Papilloma virus (HPV). There more than hundred types of this virus. 30 of them are transferred through sexual intercourse.
