The total number of workers who benefitted from the awareness publications issued by the Law Respect Culture Office, at the Secretariat General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has reached 62 thousand since the establishment of the office back in 2009. The workers were educated through awareness lectures and workshops as well as distribution of legal handbooks.
In addition to the lectures and workshops, 652 thousand awareness publications were issued by the Law Respect Culture Office since its establishment till now; including 150 thousand copies of the “Worker… Rights and duties” handbook; issued in seven languages. This was announced by Lt. Colonel Salah Al Goul, Director of Law Respect Culture Office, on the occasion of Labor Day celebrated today, Tuesday, in the country and all over the world.
Al Ghoul added: “Those workers, of various Asian nationalities, have benefited from the awareness and education lectures, presented by the Office in their barracks. The lectures and workshops focused on enhancing the workers’ awareness of their legal rights and duties.”
Al Goul reaffirmed the Office’s commitment to organize lectures and workshops for imported labor in the purpose of shedding the light on their rights and duties, to promote workers’ relations in their interest. He added: “Since its establishment, the Office has organized lectures, distributed awareness publications, issued copies of “legal handbooks” to acquaint the imported labor with laws and behaviors they have to comply with while working in the UAE, and the need to refrain from committing any legal violations.”
He explained: “The Awareness publications of the Office provide explanations about the rights and duties of the workers, to allow full development of both the individuals and the community. The aim is to reach excellence in achieving the goals and hopes of the society members; spread awareness among individuals, clarify their rights and duties towards the society, and the rights and duties of the country towards them.”
Al Ghoul stated: “The publications are issued in accordance with the applicable laws consistent with the country’s Constitution, and they aim to spread awareness among individuals to enhance the general law respect culture in the society, in line with a strategic vision based on spreading awareness and introducing the culture of law respect.”
At the end of his speech, Al Ghoul concluded by saying: “The Law Respect Culture Office will continue to explain the rights and duties to the workers, and get familiar with the challenges they face at work. The Office will try to find the suitable solutions to the workers’ problems, thus, enhancing the role of the Ministry of Interior and its community management; which aims to participate with all members of society; in their social issues and different occasions.”
