In line with the human resources development at the Ministry of Interior, 30 officers from the Ministry, members of the Masters program at the Abu Dhabi Human Resources Department, visited the Traffic and Patrol Directorate in Abu Dhabi Police to view the organizational structure and efforts exerted to reduce traffic accidents. This visit was aimed at helping them benefit from the information in their academic researches.
Colonel Khamis Isaac Mohammed, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrol Directorate, welcomed the officers in a lecture he gave at the Directorate’s theater. In his lecture, attended by a number of the Directorate’s officers, the Colonel explained the vision of the Directorate, its mission, as well as its organizational structure, traffic safety strategy and its initiatives to make roads safer and more secure.
Colonel Khamis Mohammed also gave an overview of the prominent indicators of traffic accidents in the country in general, and in Abu Dhabi in particular, comparing them with international statistics. He gave a detailed explanation about the efforts exerted to improve traffic safety in Abu Dhabi through implementing plans and intensifying traffic awareness programs to include all community segments in the purpose of reaching the Zero Vision in traffic accidents’ casualties by 2030.
He stressed that traffic safety is a duty and responsibility shared by all, without exception, calling on the various components of society to work jointly with the traffic related institutions to encourage motorists and pedestrians to commit to traffic rules and regulations.
The officers visited different departments of the Traffic and Patrol Directorate, such as Traffic Engineering and Road Safety Department and Clients Service Center. They viewed the efforts exerted to improve work mechanism in accordance with the best practices.
At the end of the visit, the Colonel presented the participant officers with memorial shields, wishing them luck in their academic researches.
