He added that due to bad weather conditions, the Central Operations Section received reports indicating that windows cleaning scaffolds have stopped working in 2 buildings in Al Mina & Al Corniche Streets. There were also reports of elevator disruptions in Abu Dhabi, with no casualties or injuries.
The Abu Dhabi General Headquarters urged motorists to commit to traffic regulations, limit speed and leave a safe distance between vehicles, calling on them to use hazard lights when they come to a complete stop and to be wary of sand accumulation on the roads.
It also advised motorists to be cautious, especially in desert areas, where there are no barriers, buildings or trees that can absorb part of the wind’s strength loaded with sand, which will accumulate on the roads and motorists have no chances of avoiding it if driving at high speeds.
The Weather Bureau recommended motorists on Thursday to be extra cautious while driving, due to low visibility, sand and dusty winds in open areas especially in Abu Dhabi.
