The Ministry of Interior has arrested over the past three days (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday) as many as 166 illegal immigrants and illegal residents, out of which 58 were in Abu Dhabi, 72 in Al Ain, and 36 in Sharjah.
The Follow up Department of Illegal Residents and Foreigners in Abu Dhabi, carried out a large-scale one day crackdown campaign, based on information received by the Department about a number of illegals in different areas in Abu Dhabi and Bani Yas. The campaign resulted in the arrest of 58 illegal residents of Asian and African nationalities, including two infiltrators, 52 women who ran away from their sponsors, and 4 persons for harboring a number of women who were in violation of the law of entry and residency of foreigners in the country.
Another two days search campaign was carried out by the Follow up Department of Illegal Residents and Foreigners in Al Ain. The campaign was launched based on tipoff received by the department about a number of illegal Asian nationals who were gathering in an industrial area in Al Ain, during the evening. Following an investigation into the matter, search warrants were issued, and a building was raided and searched. The raid resulted in the arrest of 72 illegals with no identification documents, including 37 infiltrators, 33 violators of the UAE law of entry and residency of foreigners, one person working for other than his sponsor, and an employer who hired a person with a different sponsor.
In a similar action, The Follow up Department of Illegal Residents and Foreigners in Sharjah, carried out a search campaign, based on information received by the department about a number of illegals staying in an industrial area in Sharjah. The campaign resulted in the arrest of 36 infiltrators of Asian nationalities.
Major General Nasser Al Awadi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, said that these campaigns come in line with the efforts exerted by the Follow up Department of Illegal Residents and Foreigners, and the affiliate departments nationwide, to reduce the number of infiltrators and illegal residents.
Commending the enormous efforts of the Department’s employees, Major General Al Menhali added that the campaigns currently carried out will continue, and will be intensified in different areas across the country. The arrested offenders will be referred to relevant authorities to take legal action.
Major General Al Menhali called on all society members, nationals and residents, to report such violations and violators, and report those who harbor or hire infiltrators or illegal residents who pose a great threat to the safety and security of society.
