The Ministry of Interior has discussed means of enhancing cooperation and coordination, in addition to exchanging experiences in the field of Juveniles Care with its counterpart in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed Nehkairah Al Mahrami, Head of Human Rights Department, and Chairman of the Juveniles Care center’s Steering Committee, met the Jordanian Public Security Directorate’s delegation for juvenile care, headed by Colonel Wael Mohammed Al Shaqairat, and the UN delegation on Drugs and Crime in Jordan, during their visit to the Al Mafraq Juveniles Care center at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.

The delegation was briefed on the organizational chart and duties of Al Mafraq Juveniles Care center, in addition to the center’s role in juvenile care and its plans to develop its tasks that reflect in better technical and administrative services, care and rehabilitation programs for Juveniles in the center.

The delegation was also briefed on the care and rehabilitation program that changes the behavior of the juveniles in order to prepare them to adapt and reintegrate with the society. Visitors were also briefed on the services that comply with public health requirements and protect human dignity, while enforcing religious values and principles and traditions, build loyalty for national identity and Emirati tradition and deepen love, tolerance, cooperation and emotional stability principles, in addition to help juveniles increase self-control.

The visiting delegation toured the center to review training and educational programs and plans and service facilities. They were introduced to the level of readiness within different sections that rehabilitate and take care of juveniles, such as social welfare home, sports halls, skills and behavior values club.


Colonel Wael Mohammed Al Shaqairat, chairman of the Jordanian delegation, delivered a presentation on the kingdom’s efforts in juvenile care and rehabilitation, along with the laws and regulation applicable in this field.


A number of officials at the center and Dr. Hatem Ali, President of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in the GCC, were present at the meeting.
